Amateur baseball: Pipers dealt first loss by Pacers
The Prior Lake Pacers handed the Rosemount Pipers their first loss of the season in walk-off fashion Sunday night in Prior Lake.
A hit-by-pitch and a pair of walks by reliever Mitch Peterson loaded the bases and the Pacers followed with a base hit to claim the 4-3 victory.
The Pipers (3-1) trailed by two runs before plating two in the top of the seventh. Bryce Barry and Jesse Riebel started the rally with back-to-back base hits and Peterson skied a sacrifice fly to make it 3-2. No. 9 hitter Scott Manwarren then tied the score with a base hit. Manwarren accounted for two of the Pipers’ six hits.
Riebel started on the mound and held Prior Lake scoreless over the first four innings before running into trouble in the fifth. The Pacers took the lead with three runs before Peterson came in and put out the fire.
The Pipers are back home Sunday when they host the Le Center Braves at DCTC. First pitch is at 6 p.m.
