Letter: A good year in Dakota County
To the editor:
As my first year on the Dakota County Board winds to close, I wanted to take a moment to thank Rosemount voters for this opportunity.
It has been a good year.
As a result of considerable effort, Dakota County is completely debt-free, a rare achievement for any level of government.
In an effort to be careful with tax dollars, we partnered with local cities and others on innovative and efficient ways to improve roads, fight crime, expand library services, and to protect our open space, woodlands, wetlands and parks. Many of these efforts earned statewide and even national recognition this year.
Expect solid services and fiscal stability to continue in 2018. In fact, we recently adopted a 2018 budget that will result in Dakota County having the lowest county property taxes per person of any of Minnesota's 87 counties.
Again, thank you for this opportunity to serve. For questions or concerns, I can be reached at 651-438-4430 or Joe.Atkins@co.dakota.mn.us.
